{"id":897,"date":"2023-05-13T21:20:11","date_gmt":"2023-05-13T19:20:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spiaggialapelosa.it\/stintino\/"},"modified":"2026-05-10T05:21:42","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T03:21:42","slug":"stintino","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/spiaggialapelosa.it\/en\/stintino\/","title":{"rendered":"Stintino"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"et_pb_section_0 et_pb_section et_section_regular et_block_section\"><div class=\"et_pb_row_0 et_pb_row et_block_row\"><div class=\"et_pb_column_0 et_pb_column et_pb_column_4_4 et-last-child et_block_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_0 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module et_pb_text_align_center preset--module--divi-text--29478f13-9427-4e0c-ac3c-e0788bec0b05\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h1>STINTINO<\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_section_1 et_pb_section et_section_regular et_block_section\"><div class=\"et_pb_row_1 et_pb_row et_block_row\"><div class=\"et_pb_column_1 et_pb_column et_pb_column_4_4 et-last-child et_block_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough\"><div class=\"et_pb_image_0 et_pb_image et_pb_module et_block_module\"><span class=\"et_pb_image_wrap\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/spiaggialapelosa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Stintino_AdobeStock_41621653-scaled.jpeg\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1279\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spiaggialapelosa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Stintino_AdobeStock_41621653-scaled.jpeg 2560w, https:\/\/spiaggialapelosa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Stintino_AdobeStock_41621653-1280x640.jpeg 1280w, https:\/\/spiaggialapelosa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Stintino_AdobeStock_41621653-980x490.jpeg 980w, https:\/\/spiaggialapelosa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Stintino_AdobeStock_41621653-480x240.jpeg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) and (max-width: 1280px) 1280px, (min-width: 1281px) 2560px, 100vw\" class=\"wp-image-27\" title=\"Stintino, La Pelosa\" \/><\/span><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_text_1 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><span>Unlike others, of Stintino we know exactly the date of its founding: August 14, 1885, the origin of the village of Stintino is due to the Italian government's decision to establish on Asinara Island the maritime quarantine health station and a penal colony.<\/span><br \/>\n<span>In those days the island was inhabited 45 by families, some engaged in sheep farming and livestock breeding, who had given rise to the agglomerations of Fornelli and Cala Reale, while in Cala d'Oliva lived fishermen of Ligurian and Ponzese origin who, after several migrations, decided to settle permanently on the island to devote themselves to seasonal tuna and lobster fishing.<\/span><br \/>\n<span>The government, after a series of negotiations with the former inhabitants of the island, who associated in the union of 45, offered a ''regalia'' of 750 liras and the possibility of choosing a site where they could settle, the possibilities offered were two: the bay of Porto Conte, near the Roman ruins of Porto Ninfeo, or the long strip of land characterized by two deep inlets known as ''Isthintini'' not far from the Tonnara Saline.<\/span><br \/>\n<span>Given the strategic location and the ties that in any case bound the exiles with the Island of Asinara, it was decided that the new town would rise in the ''Isthintini,'' which were equally decisive in the choice of the name of the town: Isthintini - Sthintini - Stintino, which was initially to be called Cala Savoia.<\/span><br \/>\nThe forty-five families using the few resources made available by the central government, and thanks to their stubbornness managed to build the new town.<br \/>\nThus arose Stintino, ordered according to a master plan that neatly divided the town into a narrow peninsula between the two arms of the sea, Porto Vecchio and Porto Nuovo (Portu Mannu), with its small houses adorned with mint and basil that remind us at first glance of those in Cala d'Oliva, as well as the church built in 1937 that echoes the structure of the one built in Asinara.<br \/>\nStintino was intimately and doubly linked to the sea not only for economic factors, for the Stintino people the sea was the ''modus vivendi'' the tuna fishery and fishing regulated the life of this small village, each season was accompanied by rituals and customs.<br \/>\nThe main wealth of the village has always been the Tonnara, then came tourism, in the early 1900s the village was home to some of the most illustrious families of the Sassarese bourgeoisie, the Azzena, Berlinguer, Segni, Silenti, Scotti.
